Description Cristian Le 2025-07-16 10:27:50 UTC
\
Dear package maintainer,

This is an automated bug created due to a FTBFS when rebuilding this package for the change proposal CMake 4.0.

The rebuild is being tracked in https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/cmake-4.0.

See https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/CMake4.0 for more information on how to make the package compatible.

More specifically, depending on the state of the project:
- If it is actively maintained, please update the `cmake_minimum_required`, and instruct upstream to do so as well.
To minimize future maintenance, please add a higher bound as well, preferrably with the highest CMake version being
tested. You may use 4.0 as the higher bound as this is being tested in the tracked copr project.
- If the project is not maintained, you may add `CMAKE_POLICY_VERSION_MINIMUM=3.5` as a CMake variable or environment
  variable.

You can check the build locally following the instructions in the change proposal, or submit your build to the tracking
copr project.

Let me know if you encounter any issues, or need any other help.

Cristian Le:

Would you provide the COPR repo of cmake for Fedora 42 x86_64?

https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/lecris/cmake-4.0/

It provides rawhide only.

Comment 2 Cristian Le 2025-07-17 14:15:11 UTC
CMake will not be updated in F42, only rawhide. You could rebuild it for F42 in a fork.

But I have sent you an email a while ago to ask you about this project. By the nature of this project it would be tightly linked to CMake, so just a rebuild I don't think will be sufficient to investigate the compatibility. However there is no dependent package using this project and upstream is apparently dead. Would it make sense to retire this.

If you have some other need for this project, or wish to revitalize it, let me know and I can give it a quick review.

I know cmake-4.0 is planed in Fedora 43 but it would be great if you could build the package in Fedora 42 COPR build.

Comment 4 Cristian Le 2025-07-17 14:59:01 UTC
Here you go: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/lecris/cmake-4.0-f42/build/9282275/

But do consider the other points raised.

Great, thank you.

> But do consider the other points raised.

Right. ibus-qt, ibus-unikey, ibus-chewing no longer use cmake-fedora but cmake so probably it would be good to retire this package.

However the Fedora 42 COPR repo of cmake is still useful for me since the similar bugs are reported to ibus-qt and ibus-unikey.

Comment 6 Cristian Le 2026-01-08 17:26:43 UTC
Any news on if this will be retired. I confirmed that this is incompatible with CMake 4.0

Comment 7 fujiwara 2026-01-09 05:32:45 UTC
OK, orphaned https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/cmake-fedora now.

Comment 8 Fedora Admin user for bugzilla script actions 2026-01-09 13:00:57 UTC
This package has changed maintainer in Fedora. Reassigning to the new maintainer of this component.

Comment 9 Maxwell G 2026-02-23 03:11:39 UTC
Automation has figured out the package is retired in Fedora Rawhide.

If you like it to be unretired, please open a ticket at
https://forge.fedoraproject.org/releng/tickets/issues/new?template=.forgejo%2fISSUE_TEMPLATE%2funretire-package.md
