Description Steve Cossette 2025-11-06 11:47:28 UTC
Hello,

My name is farchord and I am a packager for the KDE sig.

We have 2 apps in the KDE set that rely on Avogadro2, and when building them, they fail to build:

https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/farchord/kde-test/build/9772938/

According to upstream, this has already been fixed: https://invent.kde.org/education/kalzium/-/merge_requests/65 (See comments)

Could we get this package updated to fix this issue?

Thank you!

Reproducible: Always

This pertains to the step and kalzium apps, version 25.08.3.

I need some time: since release 1.102.0, it is required JKQtPlotter, currently unavailable in Fedora.

Comment 3 Steve Cossette 2025-11-06 18:38:43 UTC
Actually, I'll look into jkqtplotter for you, see if I can't also rope someone into doing the review. I'll let you know.

Comment 4 Antonio T. sagitter 2025-11-06 18:46:08 UTC
I could review your package

Comment 5 Steve Cossette 2025-11-06 23:57:17 UTC
Thanks for that!

I readied a spec, but had to build from git master. It works, well, I guess I should say it builds.

The last release was almost a year and a half ago, and that build isn't building, complains it cannot find pthread.

And I have a strong feeling that a review from a git master might not pass. Specially that all libraries end with "_Debug".

Can you chime in on that last question? If you're the one that's gonna be doing the review, and I know Fedora prefers released software, would that be "good enough"?

I'm not sure what version Avogado2 requires as a minimum.

Yes, just use the right pre-release version tag in new spec file:

https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/packaging-guidelines/Versioning/
https://fedora-infra.github.io/rpmautospec-docs/autorelease.html#traditional-versioning-with-part-of-the-upstream-version-information-in-the-release-field

There ya go: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2413958

No tag as-of yet, so this is from the latest git commit (As-of November 6th).

I'll update it when/if the author creates a tag.

FYI: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/JKQtPlotter I added you as a co-maintainer, considering Avogadro's going to need it, it probably makes things easier for you.
