Comment 1 Orion Poplawski 2026-02-22 17:56:40 UTC
Filed upstream report - https://github.com/gnu-octave/symbolic/issues/1332

Comment 2 Colin Macdonald 2026-02-22 21:59:08 UTC
I believe this will be fixed in the final mpmath (python3-mpmath package) 1.4.0 release. Currently there seems
to be a beta release 1.4.0b3.

Reference: https://github.com/mpmath/mpmath/issues/1033

Comment 3 Orion Poplawski 2026-05-31 19:23:45 UTC
octave-symbolic builds fine now in rawhide with mpmath 1.4.1. I guess we need mpmath to get updated in F44 for it to get fixed there.

Comment 4 Colin Macdonald 2026-05-31 20:26:10 UTC
Yes I've pinged @zbyszek and asked for [either commit access or a backport to F44](https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-mpmath/pull-request/8#comment-325770).

Then I'll do the build using my new-found knowledge of build-root-overrides (thanks again for that) and get an update submitted.

Comment 5 Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek 2026-06-04 07:42:28 UTC
mpmath has been updated in f44 now too.

Comment 6 Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek 2026-06-07 15:00:20 UTC
The build for f44 failed because it still got the old python3-mpmath. I started a new build now.
