Description Brian Carr 2026-03-17 00:16:16 UTC
Installer WebUI Critical Error:
org.fedoraproject.Anaconda.PayloadInstallationError: Failed to install image: process '['rsync', '-pogAXtlHrDx', '--stats', '--info=flist2,name,progress2', '--no-inc-recursive', '--exclude', '/dev/', '--exclude', '/proc/', '--exclude', '/tmp/*', '--exclude', '/sys/', '--exclude', '/run/', '--exclude', '/boot/*rescue*', '--exclude', '/boot/loader/', '--exclude', '/boot/efi/', '--exclude', '/etc/machine-id', '--exclude', '/etc/machine-info', '/run/install/sources/mount-0000-live_os_image/', '/mnt/sysroot']' exited with status 23

---[ System & Environment Information ]---
OS: Fedora Linux 43 (Workstation Edition)
Anaconda version: 43.44
Anaconda UI version: 53.14.g7ea927aa

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create live usb for v42 or v43
2.boot usb
3.try to install v43
tried: reclaiming all the space, with encrypted home, w/o encryption, using whole disk
Actual Results:
each and every time, I receive the same error as posted above. I did not have v41, but I did have v40 which installed the first time but then crashed

Expected Results:
install to complete

Additional Information:
I had v42 on my system and updated prior to upgrading to v43. the new v42 booted and I upgraded. However, v43 had an error where akmods failed to build a kernal plug in and the system refused to go into single mode. I decided to just do a fresh install of v43. that did not work. Fresh install of v42 did not work. Fresh install of 40 executed but failed on the next reboot.

I suspected my M2 drive--so I used v43 to format it and suing rsync copied 50G to it, did the repair, and check--all passed.
