FEDORA-2026-93d5f8b63a (glycin-2.1.5-1.fc44) has been pushed to the Fedora 44 stable repository. If problem still persists, please make note of it in this bug report.
I'm reopening this to track the 2.2.alpha.5 development release progress for rawhide.
I've started collecting builds to unblock glycin 2.2.alpha.5 here: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/decathorpe/glycin-next/monitor/ Looks like we'll need (at least?) three new packages, for the new glycin-core, glycin-builtin, and glycin-external crates. I'll submit those for review tomorrow.
Submitted packages for new dependencies (additional components split off from glycin and gufo): - rust-glycin-builtin: #2497349 - rust-glycin-core: #2497350 - rust-glycin-external: #2497351 - rust-glycin-image-rs: #2497352 - rust-glycin-test: #2497353 - rust-gufo-xvg: #2497354 And I submitted updates for zbus v5.16 and libheif-rs v2.7.0 too. With this, I think all missing dependencies listed in Comment 5 should be addressed (and those for loupe 51.alpha too). As for "criterion", it is a benchmarking library - which can be safely patched out for package builds, because cargo benchmark targets are neither compiled nor run during package builds. Preview builds of all dependencies are available in COPR (or rawhide directly): https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/decathorpe/glycin-next/monitor/
Thanks. I re-tried on the current rawhide and the zbus and libheif-rs deps are covered now. The rest will take more time.

Yeah, I've started looking at 2.2.beta, it should be all the crates listed here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glycin/-/tags/2.2.beta -- plus gufo 0.5.0-beta, and apparently jpegxl-rs v0.14 and image-extras.
That's a long list too /o\ Good luck with that ;)
Yes. Don't ask me why gufo and glycin get split into more and more ever smaller, separately published components ...
I guess it's to make your life "easier" :-/ I just tried the snapshot 51.beta release and it seems it wants a more recent libglycin crate (only three problems reported there, with two of them being libglycin related, though 0.2.0 looks odd/old version to me). It's bug 2512759 comment #1, if interested.
They released 2.2.beta.1 recently (no idea why the release monitoring did not open a new bug for it (yet?)). I tried it [1], and it fails with: Problem 1: nothing provides requested (crate(glycin) >= 4.0.0~beta.1 with crate(glycin) < 5.0.0~) Problem 2: nothing provides requested (crate(glycin-core) >= 4.0.0~beta.1 with crate(glycin-core) < 5.0.0~) Problem 3: nothing provides requested (crate(glycin-core/async-io) >= 4.0.0~beta.1 with crate(glycin-core/async-io) < 5.0.0~) Problem 4: nothing provides requested (crate(glycin-core/builtin-image-rs) >= 4.0.0~beta.1 with crate(glycin-core/builtin-image-rs) < 5.0.0~) Problem 5: nothing provides requested (crate(glycin-core/builtin-test) >= 4.0.0~beta.1 with crate(glycin-core/builtin-test) < 5.0.0~) Problem 6: nothing provides requested (crate(glycin-core/external) >= 4.0.0~beta.1 with crate(glycin-core/external) < 5.0.0~) Problem 7: nothing provides requested (crate(glycin-core/gdk4) >= 4.0.0~beta.1 with crate(glycin-core/gdk4) < 5.0.0~) Problem 8: nothing provides requested (crate(glycin-core/tokio) >= 4.0.0~beta.1 with crate(glycin-core/tokio) < 5.0.0~) Problem 9: nothing provides requested (crate(glycin/async-io) >= 4.0.0~beta.1 with crate(glycin/async-io) < 5.0.0~) Problem 10: nothing provides requested (crate(glycin/gdk4) >= 4.0.0~beta.1 with crate(glycin/gdk4) < 5.0.0~) Problem 11: nothing provides requested (crate(glycin/gobject) >= 4.0.0~beta.1 with crate(glycin/gobject) < 5.0.0~) Rust world is weird. A patch release and it breaks everything... /o\ [1] https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=149418941
> They released 2.2.beta.1 recently (no idea why the release monitoring did not open a new bug for it (yet?)). This is because glycin (and all of GNOME, for that matter) uses a versioning scheme that does not parse + sort correctly as either RPM, SemVer, nor Python versions. I changed the settings in release-monitoring.org to have it use "RPM" versioning, which makes the versions *sort* wrong, but it at least *parses* versions correctly. It looks like it didn't file a new bug though, so I'll do that manually for now. > Rust world is weird. A patch release and it breaks everything... /o\ It is not a patch release, though. It's a new pre-release, and pre-releases have no compatibility guarantees in SemVer. So ... this is just what you get for wanting to package pre-releases. ;)
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2521771
> It is not a patch release, though. > It's a new pre-release, and pre-releases have no compatibility guarantees in SemVer. Ah, that SemVer thing I always keep forgetting about. For me, by just reading the update versions, when there's a `2.2.beta` release and the next one is `2.2.beta.1`, then it means for me "this is still the beta release, but we found some problems, which we want to fix immediately, thus here you are" - that I call a patch release, which is, not being a `beta` in the version string, just the place where the `1` landed (`major.minor.micro.patch`). Never mind though, it's only me :)
