Description Fedora Fails To Install 2026-09-21 16:05:52 UTC
Hello,

Please note that this comment was generated automatically by https://forge.fedoraproject.org/releng/tooling/src/branch/main/release-process/bug-filing/follow-policy/follow_policy.py
If you feel that this output has mistakes, please open an issue at https://forge.fedoraproject.org/releng/tickets/issues

Your package (mpd) Fails To Install in Fedora 46:

can't install mpd:
  - nothing provides libsidplayfp.so.6()(64bit) needed by mpd-1:0.24.14-2.fc46.x86_64

If you know about this problem and are planning on fixing it, please acknowledge so by setting the bug status to ASSIGNED. If you don't have time to maintain this package, consider orphaning it, so maintainers of dependent packages realize the problem.

If you don't react accordingly to the policy for FTBFS/FTI bugs, your package may be orphaned in 8+ weeks.
See https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/

P.S. The data was generated solely from koji buildroot, so it might be newer than the latest compose or the content on mirrors. To reproduce, use the koji/local repo only, e.g. in mock:

    $ mock -r fedora-46-x86_64 --config-opts mirrored=False install mpd

P.P.S. If this bug has been reported in the middle of upgrading multiple dependent packages, please consider using side tags: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Updates_Policy/#updating-inter-dependent-packages

Thanks!

If you do a build that's bumps the .so version it's your job to announce it on devel list and arrange the rebuild of dependant packages.

sorry, didn't do my homework, found out myself the hard way that the package is not as isolated :-(

is there any detailed document? - I've found just this: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Package_maintainer_responsibilities/#_notify_others_of_changes_that_may_affect_their_packages

this doesn't give much clue how to "arrange the rebuild of dependant packages" ... looking around, seems I need to be provenpackager, or need to ask one - Leigh, pretty please with sugar on top, could you do the rebuild for this, and also audacious-plugins-exotic is affected ...?

Hello,

If you feel that this output has mistakes, please open an issue at https://forge.fedoraproject.org/releng/tickets/issues

All subpackages of a package against which this bug was filled are now installable or removed from Fedora 46.

Thanks for taking care of it!

Hi, I updated mpd yesterday so that's fixed, it needed updating anyway.
audacious-plugins-exotic (audacious-plugins) is ftbfs due to

it seems libsidplayfp has a missing buildep for the new version

You will to to raise the issue with the audacious-plugins to discuss any possible fix.
