From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/4.76 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.4.3-XFS i686) On an intel L440GX+ reference platform with no disks attached to the internal controller, aic7xxx.o goes into an endless loop trying to reset the SCSI-buses. The module works fine when loaded manually from the command line. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Unplug disks from internal controller 2. Do you have any drives in the machine at all?
2 x 30GB WDC WD307AA on the internal IDE controller, 5 x 9GB IBM DMVS on the SYM53C896 SCSI controller, 8 x 18GB IBM DDYF on the Qlogic 2200 Fibre Channel controller.

I think this is a kernel problem...we've had a couple of reports like this. I reassigned bug #36601 to the kernel.
