It's not breaking any dependencies within EPEL, that I'm aware of.

Where are you installing mplayer from?

Comment 2 Dave Botsch 2007-12-15 02:25:48 UTC
rpmforge/dag.wieers

The main problem is that it's a version update, so, anything built against the
old version, rpm or not, breaks.

In the case of a version update, it'd be good to keep the older version still in
the rpm (or release two versions or a compat pacakge -- like redhat does w. the
official rpms)

Comment 3 Rex Dieter 2007-12-15 03:02:47 UTC
I'll see if we can work something out.

This latest version is fully source/api compatible, so hopefully I can talk the
nice rpmforge folks into rebuilding their libmpcdec apps against the latest
version too.

Comment 4 Dave Botsch 2007-12-15 04:45:16 UTC
also see bug #425541 - same issue, but with libupnp from epel and vlc from
rpmforge/dag

Yes, some coordination would be good since both repos are big, popular source of
rpms. Any messages I've sent to the dag email reporting issues have either been
ignored, forgotten, or spam trapped someplace.

Comment 6 Rex Dieter 2008-02-18 14:57:39 UTC
hopefully sorted out by now. If you still have issues, please reopen.
