Description of problem: My mouse pointer keeps getting mashed (I can still see it, but its a mess of pixels), which I suppose reeks of memory corruption? It did it a lot after installing. I've updated, it does it less. I installed the Nvidia drivers, it still does it. Macbook Pro, Penryn. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Expected results: Additional info:

Thanks for the bug report. We have reviewed the information you have provided above, and there is some additional information we require that will be helpful in our diagnosis of this issue. Please attach your X server config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf, if available) and X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.*.log) to the bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the bugzilla file attachment link below. Could you please also try to use non-animated pointer style (System / Preferences / Appearance / Appearance Preferences and there on your selected theme, click Customize / Pointer and select default pointer theme). Does it help? We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach this information. Thanks in advance.
changing title to better reflect problem described.
I changed the theme of the pointer. I could click through them, and they'd randomly be either crap, or an actual pointer, that would turn to crap once I left the dialogue.

Please, install xorg-x11-drv-nv or xorg-x11-drv-nouveau (follow the instructions to clean out your system of nVidia remains on https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Xorg/3rd_Party_Video_Drivers) and try to reproduce the bug. Let us know about the results (with Xorg.0.log attached). If you couldn't reproduce it with open source drivers, I will have to close this bug as CANTFIX (because we cannot).
As I said, this was happening before the driver swap.
(In reply to comment #8) > As I said, this was happening before the driver swap. Great, so could I ask for /var/log/Xorg.0.log with the open source driver, please? Thank you

Wiped out everything GL/mesa/xorg related that rpm -Va said I should, reinstalled, and got rid of the nvidia stuff obviously. Sadly, the new Noveu or whatever it is driver doesn't work. I might just stick with nv til it does ... Anyway, my cursor is still crap.
Interesting ... every now and then I get an annoying message saying something about assisstive technologies not being started, and it offers to log me out and in again to sort it out. Today I couldn't be arsed, so I said no, and carried on looking at my emails. Now, I needed to right click something, because I'm on a Macbook, I needed to enable hold down triggers right click. I think this is what needs the assisstive technology support. Anyway, despite the error message I had at log on, it let me enable right click support. After I did it, I soon noticed my pointer was crap, it hadn't been for a good 1/2 hr before then ... its fine now again after I turned the right click support option off again. So, there we go, big clue for this bug!
Try to run gnome-keyboard-properties --a11y and switch the assistive technologies off. Does it help? QUestion is of course, why you got it switched on in the first place.

How is this a DUP of that bug?
I've upped the severity of this as well. Its making my laptop a total pain in the arse to use, because I can hardly see where I'm clicking. I can choose between that, or no right click. Joy :)
Does this still happen if you use the vesa driver? Also, if nouveau doesn't work can you please explain more about how exactly it fails, I'll attempt to get that fixed for you!
This message is a reminder that Fedora 10 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 10. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '10'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 10's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 10 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Fedora 10 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2009-12-17. Fedora 10 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
Go away bug, I don't care anymore!
