owen can you take a look at this one?
What font is your gnome-terminal configured to use? With: -misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--14-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Both Japanese input and display of Japanese files works perfectly for me. (This is using gnome-core-1.4.0.4-9, gnome-libs-1.2.13-3.
This defect considered MUST-FIX for Fairfax gold-release.
rm ~/.gnome/Terminal and run gnome-terminal again. It's a default font problem. Beginers can never choose the appropriate Japanese font from the font dialog. So we must set the corrent font from first.
What happened is that the .po file patch with the translation for 'fixed' got lost. Its extremely hard to merge .po file patches from one release of a package to another, and we didn't even try to do this. If we expect this to ever work from release to release, the patch absolutely must go upstream. If somebody determines what the font should be, and makes a diff against the .po file, we can rebuiild gnome-core easily enough.
Be careful, we are also going to dump in po files from the "gnome" module on sources.redhat.com later on.
