Description Issue Tracker 2009-04-07 21:54:01 UTC
Escalated to Bugzilla from IssueTracker

Comment 1 Issue Tracker 2009-04-07 21:54:03 UTC
Hello,

I'm not sure whether this should go to you or helpdesk, but I thought I'd start here. We got the below customer query:

I was updating a system's entitlements, and added a Virtualization Entitlement to a system. When I clicked 'Update', a message informed me that RHN had performed 'extra steps' to ensure the system was entitled properly. It had a 'Click here for more information' moniker that I am really keen on reading, seeing as I like to know what is being done to my systems. When I clicked on it, it took me to a '404 Page Not Found' error doc. The URL is supposedly 'https://rhn.redhat.com/help/reference/s1-sm-systems.html#S3-SM-SYSTEM-DETAILS'.

Can you update the website so that the "more information" can be reached?

Thanks,

Rachael Baldwin

A BZ is the right thing to do here. Updating the link requires an app fix, so this isn't a quick change. Also, I'm not certain that the "what happens when you add Virt" section of the help docs ever got written before RHN500 went out the door - there may not be a real place to point this to :(

Fixed lot of outdated help URLs (page anchors in particular) with f3ca63ff07f4264e0517e73167d75f538695f6d5.

We should probabably point anything proxy/satellite-related to the top of the Satellite documentation tree - that separates us from having to figure out specific proxy versions to point at.

For the Virt/Virt-Plat page - there is a kbase article here:

http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-9933

Perhaps we should point at it, it's the best description we have of all the steps involved in getting a host successfully identified/entitled?

Satellite/Proxy docs are here:

The link in question has been updated to http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-9933. Change ce77534b333099def17cbfdbfe0db69f39d1190b.

Verified in webdev. Testopia id = 11248

Test Steps:
1. Go to systems details page and click on Properties.
2. In the Add-On Entitlements section, click on Virtualization or Virtualization Platform.
3. Click on Update Properties
4. A confirmation message is displayed at the top of the screen.
5. Click on the 'See HERE for more info' help link

Result:
The link points to a kbase article located at http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/docs/DOC-9933.
