Description of problem: Since yesterday I had problems logging in graphically until I stashed away my ~/.gconf. I now tried going through .gconf and applying old settings, and found that the culprit is desktop effects. As soon as I enable it from preferences indeed the X server crashes or something like that. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 1.6.3-4 How reproducible: 100% on my hardware Steps to Reproduce: 1. Bring up the Desktop Effects preferences 2. Enable it Actual results: Crash. Expected results: No crash. Additional info: OpenGL works (I tried with neverball). I'm attaching the diff of /var/log/rpmpkgs from Sep 7th to now.

May be this bug is related with my problem with starting KDE after updating xorg to xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.6.3-4.fc11.i586 xorg-x11-server-common-1.6.3-4.fc11.i586 Looks like KDE starting interrupts at the time when enabling Desktop effects. KDE starts after downgrade xorg to xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.6.1.901-1.fc11.i586 xorg-x11-server-common-1.6.1.901-1.fc11.i586 I am using nvidia driver from rpmfusion.
