Description Daniel Qarras 2009-10-22 10:34:34 UTC
Description of problem:
When logging into a GNOME session nm-applet complains that it cannot find a needed resource and exits. When starting a terminal and running nm-applet from there it works all ok.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
NetworkManager-0.7.996-4.git20091002.fc12.i686

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. See above

Actual results:
nm-applet start up fails.

Expected results:
nm-applet started normally.

Additional info:
I will check logs in detail and attach anything that looks relevant in few minutes. If nothing is attached, then nothing in logs.

I've got the same problem. I came across an old blog post (18 months) that had this workaround:

$ gtk-update-icon-cache
$ nm-applet &

then networkmanager starts. Unfortunately this must be done again when the computer is rebooted.
