This actually looks like a crash is somewhere in glib. Reassigning.
No glib involved here. It looks like some plugin is not safe to unload...

Victor, what did you do to trigger that? Did you load/unload a specific plugin?
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 12 development cycle. Changing version to '12'. More information and reason for this action is here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Hi all, I have been thru all the NEW and ASSIGNED crashers reported against Compiz. And finally, https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=532238#c0 and https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=538679#c0 gave the hints about how to trigger this. Just play around enabling / disabling several times the desktop effect. The 2nd time the desktop effect is disabled a crash occurs (with exactly the same traceback as reported here with unloadplugin in the exec path). The 4th time Desktop Effect is disabled, a crash occurs. The 6th time, the same .... etc. Regards. This bug has been triaged.

Just out of curiosity, why is the latest stable (0.8.4) not being used?
(In reply to comment #20) > Just out of curiosity, why is the latest stable (0.8.4) not being used? I was wondering that myself.
@Adel and drago01: Thanks for the fix and for the push. I downloaded them and confirm that this issue is fixed. You can play around activating-deactivating the desktop effects and no more crash during the unload of plugins (I played around with gdb and found that in my case it was the gconf plugin the culprit). @All reported: You can pick up the rpms from the mentioned in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=531714#c19 directly, or wait a bit until the packages are available in the updates repo (it is in pending right now). We will give this ticket a few day more day in order to collect duplicate tickets that may come in the meantime and any negative feedback related to -this- specific issue. Bojan, Rob: You may ask the maintainers about. I guess that they have their schedules :-) Thanks again all for your cooperation. -- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers

Thanks for testing, and for the triage work you are doing for compiz. (In reply to comment #20) > Just out of curiosity, why is the latest stable (0.8.4) not being used? Because it was released to close to the F12 feature freeze and even though it is a "bug fix" update it is a rather invasive change (just look at the diffstat). (There is a separate bug open for this, so no need to ask here)
(In reply to comment #22) > Bojan, Rob: You may ask the maintainers about. I guess that they have their > schedules :-) Well, yeah - maintainers are supposedly fixing this in the first place. No?

(There is a separate bug open for this, so no need to ask here) OK, thanks. I wasn't sure what was going on with 0.8.4, because even F-13 builds are based on 0.8.2.
compiz-fusion-extras-0.8.2-4.fc12, compiz-fusion-0.8.2-5.fc12, compiz-0.8.2-20.fc12 has been pushed to the Fedora 12 testing repository. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report. If you want to test the update, you can install it with su -c 'yum --enablerepo=updates-testing update compiz-fusion-extras compiz-fusion compiz'. You can provide feedback for this update here: http://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/F12/FEDORA-2009-12742
su -c 'yum --enablerepo=updates-testing update compiz-fusion-extras compiz-fusion compiz' fixed the problem for me
the testing repo update does not fix it completely. It still crashes with Desktop Cube disabled
I'm still getting the crash when disabling compiz via the desktop effects gui, with compiz-0.8.2-20.fc12.x86_64
Hi... I figured out what triggers my compiz crash. Using desktop-effects will not launch compiz correctly. However using compiz-fusion (fusion-icon), compiz was able to launch correctly.
