Description Orcan Ogetbil 2009-11-16 10:23:21 UTC
Description of problem:
After I remove the jammed paper, the printer (C7280) becomes unresponsive to print requests. The print requests remain in Pending status forever. However scanning works. This happened to me 3 times.

I tried restarting the printer, restarting the computer, emptying the print queue, uninstalling pulseaudio, stopping selinux and iptables...

These don't help. The only way to make the printer work again is to remove the printers (the printer and the fax machine) from system configuration, then to rerun hp-setup and reinstall them.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
3.9.*

How reproducible:
Always when it jams

Steps to Reproduce:
(I know that this is hard to reproduce)
1. Buy an HP C7280. install hplip etc.
2. Print until it jams (I believe that the probability to jam is anti-proportional to the amount of paper in the tray)
3. Clean up the mess
4. Try to print again

Actual results:
Nothing happens

Expected results:
My lovely school assignments in paper form

Comment 4 Orcan Ogetbil 2009-11-17 04:42:48 UTC
A very rough timeline:

02:30 - printer jams
02:50 - I restart the computer
04:50 - I remove the printer from system configuration and re-add it

What does 'lpstat -s' say?

Comment 6 Orcan Ogetbil 2009-11-26 18:31:32 UTC
Note that the printer is working now and I printed dozens of pages since.

$ lpstat -s
system default destination: Photosmart_C7200
device for Photosmart_C7200: hp:/net/Photosmart_C7200_series?zc=HPBA2E09
device for Photosmart_C7200_fax: hpfax:/net/Photosmart_C7200_series?zc=HPBA2E09

OK, I think it's probably a duplicate of bug #532112.
