After configuring an alert to use a particular IRC channel.
You are unable to *unset* the value for the irc channel.

I believe that this is an issue with the common configuration component, and is not specific to the IRC plugin.

Justin, can you point to another feature or  way to test the "common config component", so I can add details to the bug.
