RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description John T. Rose 2010-04-21 23:55:35 UTC
Description of problem:

The file images/README describes what the boot.iso file is, that file doesn't exist. It says nothing about all the files that do exist.

RHEL6.0-20100414.0-AP-x86_64-DVD1.iso

I didn't check others but it probably applies to all of them.

How reproducible:

RHEL6.0-20100428.3-Server-x86_64-DVD1.iso with anaconda-13.21.32-1.el6 doesn't contain the images/README file on the DVD.

In fact there are no files named README at all on the DVD.

Is this the intended fix?

Comment 5 Dennis Gregorovic 2010-04-30 10:53:35 UTC
That is the intended fix from the anaconda perspective. They're not in the documentation business, so it doesn't make sense for them to maintain the README file.

If we still want a README on the DVD, I can follow up with the docs team to have them put together the text and then I would tweak the compose process to pull that into the DVD.

Comment 6 Alexander Todorov 2010-04-30 13:09:10 UTC
Thanks Dennis. Moving to VERIFIED.

Comment 7 John T. Rose 2010-04-30 15:04:23 UTC
Well, this certainly isn't the resolution I had in mind. The README file was useful in the past and people do ask questions about the files in that directory in community support channels on IRC. I hope you will consider including one explaining the purpose of the files in the images directory on the media.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Beta 2 is now available and should resolve
the problem described in this bug report. This report is therefore being closed
with a resolution of CURRENTRELEASE. You may reopen this bug report if the
solution does not work for you.
