RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Scott Spurrier 2010-08-16 23:14:39 UTC
While wacomcpl doesn't appear to need explicit definitions for the devices, many of the functions in the control panel are not working in RHEL 6.

Notably:
1. Attempting to change the screen mapping will freeze the applications. This is important because we need to specify that certain tablets be confined to a single screen when using Twinview.

2. The Calibration function fails. It returns an error message.

3. The tool buttons button assignment doesn't work. If you attempt to change the button assignment to a different function, it will just reset back to it's original value after you save it.

This issue has been proposed when we are only considering blocker
issues in the current Red Hat Enterprise Linux release.

** If you would still like this issue considered for the current
release, ask your support representative to file as a blocker on
your behalf. Otherwise ask that it be considered for the next
Red Hat Enterprise Linux release. **

> 2. The Calibration function fails. It returns an error message.

This is a simple typo and can be fixed easily.
Reproducible on tablets that support touch and tabletPCs only when clicking the "Calibrate" button after selecting the device.

Comment 9 RHEL Program Management 2010-08-18 21:33:18 UTC
Thank you for your bug report. This issue was evaluated for inclusion
in the current release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Unfortunately, we
are unable to address this request in the current release. Because we
are in the final stage of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 development, only
significant, release-blocking issues involving serious regressions and
data corruption can be considered.

If you believe this issue meets the release blocking criteria as
defined and communicated to you by your Red Hat Support representative,
please ask your representative to file this issue as a blocker for the
current release. Otherwise, ask that it be evaluated for inclusion in
the next minor release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Comment 13 Denise Dumas 2010-08-19 17:29:32 UTC
Scott, can you please verify ASAP with the customer that the scratch build corrects the issue?

Comment 31 Peter Hutterer 2010-10-08 05:59:57 UTC
new package xorg-x11-drv-wacom-0.10.5-7.bz624560.el6 for testing

http://people.redhat.com/~phuttere/rpms/624560/

Includes a patch to allow for calibration of the device on Screen1. Note that I can only test with an Intuos3 here and it's hard to detect whether calibration is correct or not. Depending on the calibration, I noticed that the cursor may move back onto Screen0 on the left edge of the tablet.

Known problem: If the device is calibrated for Screen1 and then calibration for Screen0 is selected, the cursor gets stuck on the left screen. The same when the device was calibrated and is changed to Screen0.
Workaround: remove TopX, TopY, BottomX and BottomY lines from $HOME/.wacomcplrc and replug the tablet or restart X.

Comment 37 Peter Hutterer 2010-10-27 06:47:49 UTC
New packages available for testing. Both xorg-x11-drv-wacom and wacomcpl had to be updated again.

http://people.redhat.com/~phuttere/rpms/624560/

Known issues:
Hitting the "Reset" button when some buttons are on Ignore or set to Keystroke causes an error message to appear.

Please let us know of any remaining issues.

Comment 38 Peter Hutterer 2010-10-28 06:18:43 UTC
New packages available for testing at http://people.redhat.com/~phuttere/rpms/624560/, again both xorg-x11-drv-wacom and wacomcpl have seen additional patches.

These packages remove the error messages pointed out in Comment 37.

Please let us know of any remaining issues.

Comment 43 Peter Hutterer 2010-11-26 06:18:08 UTC
New packages available for testing at
http://people.redhat.com/~phuttere/rpms/624560/, xorg-x11-drv-wacom
has been updated but I've rebuilt wacomcpl to make sure the latest combination is available.

Comment 45 Peter Hutterer 2011-01-17 06:08:56 UTC
New packages available for testing at http://people.redhat.com/~phuttere/rpms/624560/. Both wacomcpl and xorg-x11-drv-wacom have been updated. Previous patches have been reverted and new patches added to address the calibration issue.

Please let me know if this fixes the issues.

Notes on the usage of wacomcpl and its settings file:
wacomcpl will save $HOME/.wacomcplrc and the calibration tool will append to that file if used. Both tools stylus and eraser must be changed to TwinView and assigned to a screen in wacomcpl first for calibration to work properly.

The .wacomcplrc script must be run after X startup or device plug to apply the settings.

Comment 50 Michael Boisvert 2011-04-19 15:49:10 UTC
Using kernel-2.6.32-131.0.1.el6, wacomcpl-0.9.0-3.el6 and
xorg-x11-drv-wacom-0.10.5-9.el6 the Cintiq 21UX/21UX2 have the ability to utilize all wacomcpl functions.

Verified.
