Created attachment 446252 [details] gdb log. Description of problem: gdb crashes while loading coredump file. This is the log. [masami@f14test ~]$ gdb /usr/bin/gnome-panel GNU gdb (GDB) Fedora (7.2-1.fc14) >>>snip<<<< Reading symbols from /usr/bin/gnome-panel...(no debugging symbols found)...done. Loaded symbols for /lib/libudev.so.0.9.1 Segmentation fault (core dumped) Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 7.2-1.fc14 How reproducible: If you log out gnome desktop, gnome-panel might crash. if you got the crash, run Abort to collect crash infomation then abort reports gdb has crashed. After that I can reproduce without Abort. Steps to Reproduce: precondition: You should have gnome-panel's coredump file. 1.Run gdb gdb /usr/bin/gnome-panel 2.Run this command. set debug-file-directory /usr/lib/debug:/var/cache/abrt-di/usr/lib/debug 3.Read corefile core-file /var/spool/abrt/ccpp-XXXXXXXXXX-XXXX/coredump Actual results: Read coredump file without crash. Expected results: gdb crashes. Additional info: I wrote simple program such as following c code. That code will crash and give coredump file to test gdb. When I run gdb and read corefile, gdb didn't crash. #include <string.h> int main(int argc, char **argv) { strcpy(NULL, argv[0]); return 0; }
