Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

screenshot - im-chooser-en_US-error

Description of problem:
In im-chooser, the window name is getting out of window boundary, and here in this case window is not expandable through which it could be managable to see the content, expanding the window. Appearing for all languages, including en_US, and Indic locales. Not tested for CKJ Locales.

Screenshot attached.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
im-chooser-1.3.1-2.el6

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install RHEl6-RC2 in any Indic Locale or english locale
2. Run im-chooser
3. Observe the window name cutting and going out of window.

Actual results:
It is going out of window. and the window is not expandable as well.

Expected results:
The level name should fits in the window and no parts of the same should go out of the window boundary which can not be visible fully.

all CJK translations are small enough to fit completely in title bar.

work around can be "\n"'s position.

"Note: this change will not take effect until you next\n
log in, except GTK+ applications"

if \n moved after "log in,\n", then it can be changed
for this example, pa_IN locale be checked, where Window width is enough to fit in title bar, because above string's length is more than normal.

This may not be solution

I just checked in Fedora 13 (with im-chooser-1.3.2-1.fc13.i686), the window has become resizable now, which is also mentioned in bug 607502 comment 6

Thanks!
Ankit

I had two fixes in Fedora for this issue 1) making the window resizable 2) taking shorter window title than current one.

Are you expecting to see both fixes or either of them? though 2) affects the translation. and I don't want to hardcode the window size to ensure not cutting off.

For RHEL6.x I prefer option 1 but for Fedora I would go for option 2.
