gnome-terminal-2.32.0-1.fc14.x86_64 vte-0.26.1-1.fc14.x86_64 Eventually becomes unable to open new windows even if there are only a few windows currently open. Fixed upstream https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=632257
Also affects RHEL6.
It appears vte 0.26.2 is released [1] with the only patch being to fix the above referenced bug. Could a new package be pushed with this change? [1] http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/vte/0.26/
I just ran into the same problem. My versions are: gnome-terminal-2.32.0-1.fc14.x86_64 vte-0.26.1-1.fc14.x86_64 Some info I gathered: [paul@bofh ~]$ lsof -p 2295 | wc -l 1161 [paul@bofh ~]$ lsof -p 2295 |grep /dev/ptmx | wc -l 479 [paul@bofh ~]$ lsof -p 2295 |grep deleted | wc -l <-- these are /tmp/vte* 39 I'll try installing the vte update (which is not yet in regular updates)
This just bit me. I note from koji that several later versions than vte-0.26.1-1 have been built for f15 and f16, neither of which has been released yet, but there have been no recent builds for the current f14 distro - any chance of a backport for this?
This bug hits me too - every 25 days in my case. I workarounded it in limits.conf * - nofile 102400 but it would be nice to push vte-0.26.2 to updates. I can not move to F15 yet because of dirty font rendering issues.
seems the owner behdad is no longer doing fedora work. We need someone else who can do this....
I've been bitten by the issue to, running RHEL 6.1. Since Fedora 14 is nearing EOL, it would seem like a good idea to reassign this bug to RHEL6.
It's fixed in f16 and f17, however it is still an issue in RHEL6, so re-asigning
Moving back to Fedora and closing, we have a separate bugreport for RHEL6 already: bug 732391
