Created attachment 456660 [details] For contact with image the tooltip is partially showed outside the pidgin window Description of problem: Tooltips that show contact information in Pidgin are not displayed correctly. If the contact has an image the tooltip is only partially showed (see pidgin1.jpg), however if there is no image for the contact the tooltip is correctly showed (see pidgin2.jpg). I had the same problem with F13, not sure after what component upgrade it started... but after upgrading to F14 and having the same problem I suspect there's something wrong in Pidgin, because KDE, Xorg, mesa and drivers are changed. Using KDE with no desktop effects enabled and standard xorg ati drivers. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): pidgin.x86_64 2.7.4-1.fc14 (same problem with 2.7.3) xorg-x11-server-Xorg.x86_64 1.9.0-15.fc14 xorg-x11-drv-ati.x86_64 6.13.1-0.3.20100705git37b348059.fc14 mesa-dri-drivers.x86_64 7.9-1.fc14 kdebase.x86_64 6:4.5.2-2.fc14 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.hover the mouse over a contact with image: tooltip partially showed 2.hover the mouse over a contact withou image: tooltip correctly showed

With the help of Pidgin developers (http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/12840) I found that the problem is related only to QtCurve theme. If I change to another theme the tooltips are correctly shown.
Hmm.. Clearly not a packaging bug. Please note it there: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?action=content&content=40492 There isn't much i can do, not even decide if it's really a Qtcurve bug or a Pidgin one. Thanks
Opened a bug in KDE (however I'm not sure QtCurve is or is not really part of KDE).
Ok, the problem seems to be due to the way QtCurve generates tooltips with rounded corners. The developers knows this, the workaround is to check the "do not round corners for - tooltips" checkbox in QtCurve configuration panel. If you want, close this ticket. But if there's a way to put this configuration as default at packaging time would be better. Thank you

I got a similar bug with pidgin tooltips , but only with my migrate home from older version, ie if I install pidgin in other user tooltips are well . But how or where I found QtCurve configuration panel. to check the "do not round corners for - tooltips" and see if it is the same problem .
Hi, on kde -> system settings -> application appearance -> gtk + appearance , change widget style to clearlooks . resolve the problem , back to QtCurve , I got the problem again.

Hi, On kde -> system settings -> application appearance -> style change style to GTK+ Style, then click on the Configure button on the right. In the configuration window set the "do not round corners for - tooltips" (if I remember right is under the "rounding" tab) and click ok. When you return to kde -> system settings -> application appearance -> style you can change back to Oxygen or whatever style you have before the change, or simply don't apply changes on exit (changes for the gtk+ theme are applied anyway).

Thanks, that's it, I though that was a problem of upgrading fedora but it is not. I test it with other user and test it with other machine and got same results. Thanks,

Well, it doesn't solve the bug (with rounded tooltips active the problem still exist), but I think this upgrade masks it the right way making square tooltips as defaults, so users don't think there's any problem. If you agree I think this bug can be closed when the upgrade hit updates repo, since users will not open new bugs related to that.
Right, it doesn't solve it. Problem is, upstream isn't able to reproduce it. Means until they find a way to do so and fix the bug afterwards, it's at least the best to have square tooltips by default. Yes, the bug will be closed automatically once the update hits stable.
