Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Mike,
Does this problem also happen when using vnc instead of spice ?
Where did you take /home/vmlinuz adn /home/initrd.img from ? I'd like to try and reproduce it on my machine.

Thanks.

Comment 9 Uri Lublin 2010-11-23 19:39:27 UTC
Works for me.
The following packages are installed on my server:
 kernel-2.6.32-71.el6.x86_64
 qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.113.el6.x86_64
 spice-server-0.4.2-15.el6.x86_64
 spice-client-0.4.2-18.el6.x86_64

After rereading the description (#comment0), where at the bottom it is mentioned:
"Tried same commandLine on qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.113.el6_0.3 ,can not trigger this
issue.", It seems to me that
1. It was a qemu-kvm issue and not a spice issue
2. It got fixed in 6.0.z
3. There is probably nothing more to fix
   - unless the problem can be reproduced with the 6.0.z qemu-kvm package

Comment 11 Uri Lublin 2010-11-24 09:17:39 UTC
Please try it with a RHEL-6.0.z spice-client (currently spice-client-0.6.3-2.el6_0.4)

Comment 12 Uri Lublin 2010-11-24 12:02:36 UTC
Works for me.

 qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.113.el6_0.4.x86_64
 spice-server-0.4.2-15.el6.x86_64
 spice-client-0.4.2-18.el6.x86_64

Comment 13 Mike Cao 2010-12-22 08:47:50 UTC
Retest on qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.113.el6_0.5.x86_64

This bug still exists.

Comment 15 Uri Lublin 2010-12-22 12:33:30 UTC
To reproduce the problem:
 - start the VM
 - connect with spicec
 - disconnect (close spicec)
 - reconnect with spicec.

Comment 16 Uri Lublin 2010-12-22 20:37:32 UTC
It seems the problem is in commit 0fedcbf47c559c01a4566f5873e435bf3dae9827.

Reverting it solves the problem.

According to comment 20, the issue was not gone!
The issue is according to my testing gone in version:
qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.113.el6_0.8.x86_64 with
spice-server-0.4.2-15.el6.x86_64

as well as does not appear in version:
qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.161.el6.x86_64 with
spice-server-0.8.0-1.el6.x86_64.

I reproduce on:
qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.113.el6_0.5.x86_64
spice-server-0.4.2-15.el6.x86_64
just like in comment 20 and comment 15.

That's all true but as far as I know, verifying process is based on real testing and not on changelog.

Comment 31 Mike Cao 2011-05-16 09:24:10 UTC
Sorry for confusion, so make a conclusion for this bug:

This regression bug was orignally found on qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.113.el6_0.4(RHEL6.0.z), it exists in rhel6.1 at the same time (qemu-kvm version before 133), so it was reported in rhel6.1.
At some point, this bug(in y stream) was fixed by the patches of bug#631522 in rhel6.1, so I close it as duliplicate of bug#631522.
And later the same regression bug in z stream was fixed by the patches reversion in qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.113.el6_0.6(rhel6.0.z), as this bug was for rhel6.1 (referring to rhel‑6.1.0+ flag) so I did not verify this bug for rhel6.0z here.
so for concise:
For rhel6.1:
This bug was found in: qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.125.el6.x86_64
This bug was fixed in: qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.133.el6 ,QE Verified it on qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.158.el6
For rhel6.0z:
This bug was found in: qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.113.el6_0.4
This bug was fixed in: qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.113.el6_0.6 ,QE verified it on qemu-kvm-0.12.1.2-2.113.el6_0.8

Best Regards,
Mike
