Description Adam Williamson 2010-11-24 20:42:06 UTC
Terminal seems to leak memory quite badly in Rawhide. I'm using it as a replacement for gnome-terminal which is crashy at the moment, but after it's been up a while with a few tabs open, it winds up using multiple GB of RAM, I have to close it and start it again. Should be fairly easy to reproduce, just run it with multiple tabs for a while and check top/htop.

Interestingly this doesn't seem to happen to other vte using terminals (I tried roxterm).

I'll try and valgrind it, or feel free to do so there and attach the output here.

Fixing the title here. Sorry for the spam.

Comment 6 Adam Williamson 2010-12-06 04:45:50 UTC
It may be worth mentioning in the upstream report that all *other* VTE-based terminals don't have this problem in Rawhide, so there's definitely something Terminal-specific.

Sure. Can do.

Comment 8 Matthew Miller 2011-01-21 17:09:36 UTC
This is still going on. I had seen this bug, shrugged, and switched to gnome-terminal, but now that's broken in other ways. :)

Maybe upstream could use a nudge?

Comment 9 Kevin Fenzi 2011-01-21 19:13:35 UTC
Yep. I have been using roxterm here (which is a fine terminal program, but Xfce can't remember where you had positioned them, so you get only one in the wrong place on login).

I'll see if we can get upstream interested...

After the weekend:

Yeah. 3.1g for a terminal. Something ain't right. :)

Comment 11 Kevin Fenzi 2011-01-31 03:24:29 UTC
Terminal-0.4.6-2.fc15 should have this fixed now. ;)

It should be in tomorrow's rawhide. If folks see this after upgrading to this version, please re-open or file a new bug on it.

Thanks.
