RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Red Hat Product Errata RHEA-2011:0540 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE redhat-release enhancement update for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.1 2011-05-18 17:44:50 UTC

Description Gonzalo Muelas Serrano 2010-12-03 15:16:02 UTC
Description of problem:
In previous releases, without this Bug 632709 - [6.1 FEAT] makedumpfile port to zLinux, kexec-tools was not provided with RHEL on System z because System z had no use of it.

Now that we will have a port/support of makedumpfile on RHEL 6.1 on System z,
we would like of course to have the kexec-tools package automaticaly built and included for RHEL 6.1 on System z.

Per Red Hat request (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=632709#c25) I am opening this bug just to track that kexec-tools is built and included in RHEL 6.1 on System z.

Thank you for your support!

IBM is signed up to test and provide feedback, setting OtherQA.

Comment 3 Dennis Gregorovic 2010-12-06 21:04:10 UTC
I'll make sure the package gets pulled into the s390x tree.

Comment 4 John Jarvis 2010-12-22 16:21:36 UTC
This enhancement request was evaluated by the full Red Hat Enterprise Linux
team for inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux minor release. As a
result of this evaluation, Red Hat has tentatively approved inclusion of
this feature in the next Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update minor release.
While it is a goal to include this enhancement in the next minor release
of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, the enhancement is not yet committed for
inclusion in the next minor release pending the next phase of actual
code integration and successful Red Hat and partner testing.

Comment 5 Dennis Gregorovic 2011-01-04 22:01:58 UTC
kexec-tools is already in the base group, so the s390x rpms should get pulled in automatically once the new build is pulled into the compose.
