Description of problem:

smartmontools does not support LSI Megaraid.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

smartmontools-5.38-2.el5

How reproducible:

Everytime

Steps to Reproduce:
1. find a server with a LSI MegaSAS/MegaRAID-Controller
2. try to smartctl a hdd behind the controller
3. 
  
Actual results:

Does not work

Expected results:

smart-info of drives is obtained like with Adaptec AAC-RAID-controllers

Additional info:

smartmontools-5.39.1-2.el6 from RHEL6 has MegaRAID-support according to the manpage using -d megaraid,N.
my system is a Fujitsu RX300 S6 with a LSI MegaSAS 9260

Okay.
I hate those private bugs, you could never be sure...
So this issue is adressed in, say, RHEL 5.7 or so?

as usual for any feature request (and for bug in some extent) it depends if it gets approved by product management, which depends whether there are (enough) requests filed through official support https://access.redhat.com/support/
