there is a new plugin for qmmp, but we do not have the required libraries packaged - review request filed, bug #716475
Any updates on providing a newer version? It's a bit unfortunate that Fedora ships a 5-month-old version of QMMP.
(In reply to comment #5) > Any updates on providing a newer version? unfortunately not - I'd really like *not* to release the new version without the new plugin is there any other reason than the new functions why you'd need the update? > It's a bit unfortunate that Fedora > ships a 5-month-old version of QMMP. you can take (or find someone to take) the review request (bug #716475) see https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Package_Review_Process Fedora is mostly a volunteer project - it ships only what it has the capacity to ship
> Fedora is mostly a volunteer project - it ships only > what it has the capacity to ship Well, the library that's missing is for niche market audio files only. Is it a hard requirement of the new QMMP releases? By packaging it yourself, you insist on adding something to your plate while somebody from the Fedora community with interest in those audio files should volunteer instead.

Is it a > hard requirement of the new QMMP releases? no, but you can argue the same way for any other improvement brought by the new version :-) if the review would get stale, I'd consider pushing newer qmmp without game music support to F16, but I do not think we need to update it in F14/15 just for the sake of updating (that was the question - "is there any other reason") (yep, sorry for missing F15 deadlines to have something newer there, but "5-month-old" within a distro that has 6 months release cycle isn't that bad :-)) > By packaging it yourself, you insist on adding something to your plate while > somebody from the Fedora community with interest in those audio files should > volunteer instead. I don't see much reason why someone else should take this, it seems natural to me that I take care of the dependencies of my package ... unless someone is really interested - should I have put you on the owners list for game-music-emu? (um, I should have asked before submitting SCM request ...)
