Description of problem: Introduce an RPM branding package that contains vendor references, icons, etc. Then all packages in need would depend on that one RPM package. This would help releasing of Fedora/Red Hat clones (CentOS, SL, ...). Currently the branding removal process on the clones is error prone and just plain waste of time. For example Fedora's thunderbird package contains general.useragent.vendor variable set 'Fedora' (see http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=4590), and SL package thunderbird-3.1.9-3.el6_0.i686 fails to remove the corresponding value 'Red Hat'. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Expected results: Additional info: See the answer to this proposal from Red Hat https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=676324 and CentOS http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=4737
For anything that includes trademarked artwork, please file those as separate issues (you can have them block this, if you so desire.) From looking at the CentOS page, there seemed to be a number of false positives in this area.
I apologize for misunderstanding, but i'm suggesting here a FutureFeature, not talking about a particular failure of removal of trademarks an a particular clone of Red Hat. I believe Fedora is the right system to introduce such a feature (vendor branding RPM package).
The point is that a lot of those issues are about trademarked artwork being in packages... that needs solved in those packages above and beyond any vendor branding package.
Not sure why this is blocking FE-Legal. Bill, if you decide to do this and need my help here, let me know.
