Created attachment 495327 [details] More crashes caught by the abrt tool
Hello, this is a bug report created with the abrt tool. I have a lot of issues with Fedora 15. Gnome-shell is crashing and restarting a few times a day. But there is also a lot of other software that is crashing when the system becomes unstable. The system can become unstable by just going into the overlay. It can also be triggered by opening a terminal window, doing some updates with yum, opening or closing gedit, terminal, rhythmbox, firefox, gcalctool, nautilus. It can take many hours or just a few minutes. Before everything is fine. Perhaps its the graphics driver? Or is Fedora using a too new version of gcc or libc? I don't know. I will attach a screenshot of other bugs caught by the abrt tool, Xorg.0.log, lscpi -vvv and dmesg. I'm using the radeon gallium driver ("Gallium 0.4 on AMD PALM"). Please let me know how to help to fix these problems.
Created attachment 495329 [details] xorg log I think there is nothing special to see. No errors. Just some warnings.
Created attachment 495330 [details] Output of dmesg (large) There is lots of noise from alsa because I compiled alsa 1.0.24 with debug mode verbose. I had to do this to write an alsa bug report.
Created attachment 495337 [details] Output of lspci -vvv This is quite new hardware. It is a Lenovo Ideapad S205 with AMDs new APU E-350 and Radeon 6310.
A few minutes ago I had another crash of gnome-shell. The problem was a gpu lockup. I'll append the complete abrt.log and file another bug for the radeon driver. Created attachment 495407 [details] The abort.log of the latest crash.
The problems I had with Gnome Shell were solved by a new radeon driver and a new kernel (see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=700323#c7). Because these new packages have not yet made it into Fedora 15, this bug can't be closed at the moment.
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
