can you reproduce it without the virtualbox modules ? There a lot of other reports where they seem to be corrupting kernel memory.

Note that: * No Virtualox module loaded * plugging it in USB 2 works fine * some months ago tested with a clean Ubuntu default installation and their kernel had the same issue (I didn't report the issue with them, as I'm no Ubuntu user)
