Description of problem: A python binding to allow access to the perf events kernel subsystem was introduced upstream and is used by the tuna package to receive notifications of thread lifetime events, instead of the current /proc polling it does. Actual results: Expected results: perf python binding installed and used by tools such as tuna. Additional info: The changes to the kernel spec file to have the package built were already prototyped/done by Jiri Olsa.
This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux maintenance release. Product Management has requested further review of this request by Red Hat Engineering, for potential inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update release for currently deployed products. This request is not yet committed for inclusion in an Update release.

Looks like python-perf isn't in distribution yet. I cannot find it in RHEL6.2-20110904.n.0. I have filed a bug 735709.
