Description Kamil Páral 2011-09-27 13:56:51 UTC
Description of problem:
When installation from Live media is almost finished, a pop-up dialog about a new connected file system appears. The reported size is 524MB, so i suppose it talks about the default /boot partition. See screenshots (please disregard the rendering issues on the screenshots, that's fault of nouveau driver).

There are two problems:
1. the dialog pops-up during the installation. As a common user I'm afraid to touch it, because I could unmount a system that the installer needs.
2. the dialog blocks input to the Reboot button after the installation is over. You *have* to do something with it.

I found out that I can click the border of the dialog and it hides. Therefore I wasn't forced select none of those choices. Installation was finished fine. I don't know what would happen if I chose "unmount" during the installation. I can test that. But the dialog shouldn't display at all.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
anaconda 16.19
Fedora 16 Beta RC3 i686 Live

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install anaconda in live environment with Gnome Shell
2.
3.

Expected results:
no dialogs pop-up, anaconda disables the systems capabilities of such announcements

Additional info:
This happens only in Gnome Shell as far as I can say.

Yeah, we try to do this already via udisks --inhibit. Do you have any idea what program is popping this up, and did it start happening? If so, I'm inclined to kick it over to whoever is responsible. It's too late for stuff like this.

Comment 4 Kamil Páral 2011-10-04 12:22:32 UTC
I reproduced again with F16 Beta Final. I don't know what application represents the dialog, xprop doesn't work on it. It seems to be integral into gnome-shell by its look. I can also confirm that you are running udisks --inhibit as part of anaconda.

The Eject button doesn't seem to work (probably as long as anaconda is open), which is the better scenario I think.

Comment 7 Fedora End Of Life 2013-01-16 10:10:14 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '16'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:

Comment 8 Fedora End Of Life 2013-02-13 08:33:57 UTC
Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
