I'm experiencing a similar problem with a Plantronics Savi W430, which communicates wirelessly with the D100 USB dongle. When the headset power button is pressed, a string of mouse signals is sent and interpreted by the system, causing partial loss of mouse button control, and therefore loss of interactivity with the environment. Upon pressing the power button again to turn off the headset, another string of mouse signals is sent, and normal mouse control resumes. Upon powering on the headset, the following mouse signals are sent (as captured by xev): ButtonPress event, serial 32, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, root 0xc2, subw 0x0, time 2513113, (896,518), root:(2496,576), state 0x10, button 19, same_screen YES ButtonRelease event, serial 32, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, root 0xc2, subw 0x0, time 2513113, (896,518), root:(2496,576), state 0x10, button 19, same_screen YES ButtonPress event, serial 32, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, root 0xc2, subw 0x0, time 2513113, (896,518), root:(2496,576), state 0x10, button 20, same_screen YES ButtonPress event, serial 32, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, root 0xc2, subw 0x0, time 2513113, (896,518), root:(2496,576), state 0x10, button 8, same_screen YES ButtonRelease event, serial 32, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, root 0xc2, subw 0x0, time 2513113, (896,518), root:(2496,576), state 0x10, button 8, same_screen YES ButtonPress event, serial 32, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, root 0xc2, subw 0x0, time 2513113, (896,518), root:(2496,576), state 0x10, button 10, same_screen YES ButtonRelease event, serial 32, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, root 0xc2, subw 0x0, time 2513113, (896,518), root:(2496,576), state 0x10, button 10, same_screen YES Upon powering off the headset, the following mouse signals are sent (as captured by xev): ButtonPress event, serial 32, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, root 0xc2, subw 0x0, time 2548515, (1280,548), root:(2880,606), state 0x10, button 19, same_screen YES ButtonRelease event, serial 32, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, root 0xc2, subw 0x0, time 2548515, (1280,548), root:(2880,606), state 0x10, button 19, same_screen YES ButtonRelease event, serial 32, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, root 0xc2, subw 0x0, time 2548515, (1280,548), root:(2880,606), state 0x10, button 20, same_screen YES ButtonPress event, serial 32, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, root 0xc2, subw 0x0, time 2548515, (1280,548), root:(2880,606), state 0x10, button 8, same_screen YES ButtonRelease event, serial 32, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001, root 0xc2, subw 0x0, time 2548515, (1280,548), root:(2880,606), state 0x10, button 8, same_screen YES
Kernel for my previous comment is: 3.1.2-1.fc16.x86_64
Workaround script to remove the Plantronics D100 device from the input device list for X. It ain't pretty, but it works. #!/bin/bash num=`/usr/bin/xinput list | /bin/grep Plantronics | /bin/awk -F= {'print $2'} | /bin/awk -F\ {'print $1'}` if [ $num ]; then /usr/bin/xinput --float $num; fi
Do you still have this issue with the 3.2.7 or newer kernels?
Still happening on Linux raptor 3.2.7-1.fc16.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Feb 21 01:40:47 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux dmesg no longer show errors, but it make still believe that the mouse button is down....
Problem persists with 3.2.9-1.fc16.x86_64
[mass update] kernel-3.3.0-4.fc16 has been pushed to the Fedora 16 stable repository. Please retest with this update.

# Mass update to all open bugs. Kernel 3.6.2-1.fc16 has just been pushed to updates. This update is a significant rebase from the previous version. Please retest with this kernel, and let us know if your problem has been fixed. In the event that you have upgraded to a newer release and the bug you reported is still present, please change the version field to the newest release you have encountered the issue with. Before doing so, please ensure you are testing the latest kernel update in that release and attach any new and relevant information you may have gathered. If you are not the original bug reporter and you still experience this bug, please file a new report, as it is possible that you may be seeing a different problem. (Please don't clone this bug, a fresh bug referencing this bug in the comment is sufficient).
With no response, we are closing this bug under the assumption that it is no longer an issue. If you still experience this bug, please feel free to reopen the bug report.
Still happening with 3.6.5-2.fc16.x86_64. In fact, I'm now getting a string of kernel oops reports popping up with ABRT when I use my headset with twinkle, which eventually results in a system hang.
As the original reporter, I can confirm. I an still seeing the bug. dmesg is much less verbose than before.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '16'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

I'm going to close this as a dup of 912859 I know that bug is newer, but it does have a tiny bit more info and hopefully you can add info there as it is requested in the future. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 912859 ***
As long as you don't close it because of a new kernel without checking I'm cool. I'll piggy back on the dupe. It definitely look similar for similar reasons.
