Description Jan Pokorný [poki] 2011-12-15 17:28:26 UTC
Just run into this and think that the behavior is not what user can expect:

On the installation screen when one is asked to select disk partitioning
(see attached screenshot), when I open "Advanced storage configuration" and
then I want to close it pressing ESC, it behaves like I would have clicked
on "Add drive" button. This is contrary to the conventions that says ESC
leads to leaving current state (i.e., not going deeper) -> UI bug.

I am afraid the framework you use for anaconda is not strong enough
to force such a convention so I advise to check all the other dialogs
as well (can also other keys misbehave like ESC, such as Enter?).

The version is (probably):
anaconda-11.1.2.248-1.x86_64

atorodov,

This is similar to bug #758106, which you also gave a qa_ack+ to.

Comment 4 RHEL Program Management 2011-12-16 14:19:55 UTC
This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion in a Red
Hat Enterprise Linux maintenance release. Product Management has requested
further review of this request by Red Hat Engineering, for potential
inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update release for currently deployed
products. This request is not yet committed for inclusion in an Update
release.

Comment 5 Vratislav Podzimek 2011-12-16 14:49:35 UTC
It is the same also in the 'Configure iSCSI Parameters' dialog (have patches
for both)

Comment 8 Jan Stodola 2012-01-11 14:01:50 UTC
I went through most GUI dialogs in anaconda (anaconda-11.1.2.250-1), as advised in comment 0, and found some more dialogs that need to be fixed to behave correctly when the Esc key is pressed:

1. "Installation Number" dialog:
Esc behaves the same way as clicking on "OK" button.

Dialogs from custom partitioning:
2. "RAID Options" dialog
3. "Make RAID Device" dialog
4. "Edit RAID Device" dialog
5. dialog that appears after selecting "Clone a drive to create a RAID device"
6. "Make LVM Volume Group" dialog
7. "Edit LVM Volume Group" dialog
8. "Make Logical Volume" dialog
9. "Edit Logical Volume" dialog

Dialogs on the boot loader configuration screen:
10. Add
11. Edit
12. Change Password

13. Editing network interface ("Edit Interface" dialog) - ESC doesn't close the dialog window

Moving to ASSIGNED.

Comment 10 Jan Stodola 2012-01-12 10:00:38 UTC
Per discussion with Vratislav, I'm moving this bug to VERIFIED.

New bug 773573 has been created to fix issues found in comment 8.

Alex:
I will check RHEL6.
