Description of problem: After doing a minimal install from the 17 Alpha TC1 DVD, then doing a minimal reinstall. there is an anaconda traceback at the very end of the install. On i386, after hard powering off and booting, the install appears to have been successful. On x86_64, I get Booting from Hard Disk... GRUB loading. Welcome to GRUB! error: ELF header smaller than expected. Entering rescue mode... grub rescue> Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): whatever is on the 17 Alpha TC1 DVD (anaconda 17.5, I think) How reproducible: don't know Steps to Reproduce: 1. minimal install using 17 Alpha TC1 DVD 2. minimal reinstall using the same DVD Actual results: Anaconda traceback at very end. Will attach screenshot. Expected results: No traceback Additional info: Installation was done using KVM.
Created attachment 559541 [details] traceback at end of reinstall from 17 Alpha TC1 i386 DVD (x86_64 is identical)
Please attach /tmp/anaconda-tb-* as an uncompressed plain text file. Doing anything else prevents us from easily searching bugzilla in the future. Thanks.
I find a file anaconda-tb-Bz2Awk in /root, but it is empty. No such file in /tmp. Doing the reinstall again with i386, I now get the ELF header error there as well. When doing a minimal GUI reinstall, although no traceback is visible (just the screen saying installation is complete), when rebooting I get the ELF header error that way as well.
Created attachment 559648 [details] traceback at end of reinstall from 17 Alpha TC1 i386 DVD (x86_64 is identical) Just learned how to convert XWD screenshots to PNG ("xwd | convert - file.png"). Reattaching previous screenshot as a PNG file for convenience.
Test installs of 17 Alpha RC2 using http://bcl.fedorapeople.org/updates/787461.img seem to fix this bug (as well as bug 787461). I'll close if it appears fixed in RC3 as well.
I did not see this in RC3, closing.
