No visual indication of sync progress in the web ui

Description of problem:

When I try to perform an immediate synchronization of a repository that was previously placed in a scheduled plan, there is no visual indication that something is actually happening (no progressbar for instance) and the web ui still displays the repository as being queued.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

* candlepin-0.5.20-1.el6.noarch
* candlepin-tomcat6-0.5.20-1.el6.noarch
* katello-0.1.238-4.el6.noarch

* pulp-common-0.0.265-1.el6.noarch
* pulp-selinux-server-0.0.265-1.el6.noarch

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new scheduled sync for some time later in the day
2. Associate an existing repository with this sync plan
3. Go to Sync Status, select your repository, and click the Synchronize Now button

Actual results:

No indication in the web ui that the sync process is taking place.

Expected results:

Some indication, at least the same progressbar that we show when performing a sync, should be visible to the user.

Additional info:

Only indication is shown in pulp.log:

2012-02-21 08:59:42,055 11809:140499736307456: pulp.server.api.synchronizers:INFO: synchronizers:775 Fetching repo to </var/lib/pulp//repos/Seattle/Library/content/dist/rhel/server/6/6Server/x86_64/os> with verify_options <{'checksum': True, 'size': True}>

mass move ON_QA after brewing

Comment 3 Corey Welton 2012-03-08 20:37:47 UTC
0.1.303-1.el6

[15:02] <cswiii> hey, I'm not 100% sure https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=795780 is fixed in brew
[15:03] <cswiii> after 1) creating a sync plan, 2) associating a product with that plan and 3) subsequently trying to manually sync that product, I get the status bar for a split second before it reads "Sync Complete"
[15:04] <cswiii> I've tried with both small, third-party repos and rhel repos
[15:05] <cswiii> annnnd... if i try to hit the sync buttton for that repo afterwards, it tells me a sync is already in progress.

Comment 4 Og Maciel 2012-03-09 19:08:50 UTC
Bouncing it back to developer. I can validate that we now do get a progress bar for a few seconds, but it goes away and gets replaced with a "Sync complete" message.

Comment 6 Og Maciel 2012-03-16 22:27:07 UTC
Getting undefined method `<=>' for nil:NilClass. See attached script for how I set things up.

Comment 14 Corey Welton 2012-03-23 14:06:24 UTC
QA Verified in 0.1.306-1.el6 -- Hitting "Synchronize Now" on an otherwise already queued (scheduled) repo now works.
