From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i586; en-US; rv:1.3a) Gecko/20021212

Description of problem:
I have a CMD649 IDE card and I already reported on linux-2.5 bugzilla that it
doesn't work. Now that the backport of the IDE code is both in marcello 2.4.x
tree and alan tree, the problem still happen with post 2.4.20 kernel.

Phoebe seems to use 2.4.20 with alan patch so I suspected it'll not work and
after testing, it doesn't work.

I tested with acpi=off but that's not the problem. The problem is that CMD64x
driver need some rewrite since IDE backport from 2.5.

You can see the bug for 2.5:
http://bugme.osdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.boot phoebe on a CMD649 ide chipset board
2.
3.

The driver level code in both is identical so it seems reasonable to assume
they will behave the same way. At the moment you have the only CMD setup
reported to fail, although that certainly doesn't mean it is the only one failing.

If you remove the slave drive do things change at all ?

You've a cristal ball!
Yes without the second hard disk, it's OK.

Precision: the second drive is not on the same cable of the 1st (ide 0), it's on
the second bus of the card (ide 1).

Sure there is a problem in this driver level code, but now that I can install
phoebe, I will wait someone find it since it's not blocking.

Thanks a lot and keep the good work.
