comment:
:I unchecked/rechecked the 'watch music folder' checkbox to reindex Music
:
:my ~/Music is actually mounted /dev/mapper/system-music created on ubuntu, and my UID there is 1000 and on fedora is 500, I'm going to chown it. A hunch tells me this is the source of the problem (the 1000 user does not exist)

To reproduce:
1.) Opened rhythmbox
2.) Opened preferences->music
3.) unchecked/checked "monitor library for updates"
 * (library now has music listed)
4.) repeat step 3, as necessary
 * Eventually (usually the first time on step four), rhythmbox receives SIGABRT
and rhythmbox-metadata receives SIGSEGV

Possibly related to bug 739779

I noticed that rhythmbox failed to play an mp3 track on the playlist that I had recently moved to a different directory. I couldn't find a feature to have rhythmbox "re-scan" my library (though it is indeed set to "watch" that directory), so I went to the preferences, unchecked the "Watch" box, then re-checked it a moment later, hoping that this would force a "re-scan." Instead, the program crashed.

OS Release: Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle)

--- Additional comment from iiska on 2012-06-09 05:27:32 EDT ---

I unchecked "Watch my library for new files" and after I immediately checked it again Rhytmbox crashed.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Enter Music library preferences: Edit -> Preferences -> Music
2. Toggle checkbox "Watch my library for new files"
3. Repeat step 2

Crash doesn't always happen immediately after first uncheck, check operation, but eventually Rhytmbox will crash if toggling the checkbox value is repeated 2-3 times.

I went to plugin settings in Rhythmbox, clicked on DAAP, enabled autodiscovory of DAAP enabled machines. Then clicked on the DAAP music library discovered. Program crashed

This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora
has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is
Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no
longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version'
of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX.

(Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this
occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.)

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen
this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that
version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:

This message is a reminder that Fedora 17 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 17. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '17'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life.

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2013-07-31 20:58:40 UTC
Fedora 17 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-07-30. Fedora 17 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
