Description Koen van Bakel 2012-10-03 07:23:22 UTC
Description of problem:

We have the possibility to create snapshots in the GUI but we do not have any management features for snapshots. What I hear from customers is that they would like to see a feature that you can automatically delete a created snapshot after a specified period. So, when creating a snapshot it would be good to have a field that gives the option for a Time to Live value / expiration date for the snapshot. When this expiration date is reached the snapshot should be deleted.

Also the automatic creation of snapshots is seen as a valuable feature.

It would be great if the automatic deletion would be optional and RHEV would warn the 'owner' of the snapshot by email X days before the expiration date. This is analogue to the 'audit' (only warn) and 'enforcing' (automatically delete) modes for the quota feature.

A default policy for this should be configurable on the datacenter and / or cluster levels. Individual VM's can override the default cluster / datacenter policy per snapshot.

Hi! Any updates on this?

Comment 29 Josh Carter 2018-09-18 13:26:28 UTC
Dear customer,

The CloudForms team is reviewing the current CloudForms RFE(Request for Enhancement) backlog in order to improve our responsiveness to customers. We are closing any requests for versions no longer within full support(link below to the lifecycle) or that do not have a clear spot on the product roadmap. We are committing to better management of the backlog as we move forward. If you have an RFE that you still have a strong business case for, please open a new BZ against the currently supported version 4.6.

If you have any concerns about this, please let us know.

Thanks and regards!”
