Description Tim Wegener 2013-02-28 00:02:39 UTC
Many times after reporting bugs via abrt, I start to report another, and it starts uploading the coredump without my permission. I have always answered the question in the "Would you like to upload the coredump" with "No". However, it keeps setting the following variable in .config/abrt/settings/report-gtk.conf:

abrt_analyze_smart_ask_upload_coredump = "yes"

This is terrible from a privacy perspective, and erodes trust and discourages use of abrt.

Full contents of .config/abrt/settings/report-gtk.conf:
ask_steal_dir = "yes"
abrt_analyze_smart_ask_upload_coredump = "yes"

$ rpm -qa 'abrt*'

Thank you for the bug report.

abrt_analyze_smart_ask_upload_coredump = "yes" means 'ask before uploading' but there was a bug in the logic processing configuration files. The bug causes that the logic always returns "upload the coredump without my permission".

The bug is fixed in upstream.[https://github.com/abrt/libreport/commit/ccc67c6aca436b44845f80388a0580e79b321945]

If you want to help us and have time to update abrt|libreport packages from the nightly repository and re-test, please do so and report the results here. [http://rmarko.fedorapeople.org/]
