Description joshua 2013-04-07 01:00:04 UTC
Description of problem:

With RHEV-M 3.1, changing the console type of a running VM doesn't change anything until the VM is rebooted. There is no warning dialogue indicating this, though I'd consider it a bug even if there was. Should a shutdown/restart really be required the change the console type?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

RHEV-M 3.1

Comment 2 Mike Burns 2013-04-11 17:25:24 UTC
Moving this over to the RHEV product.

Currently, changing the console type isn't possible on running vm, afaik. If that ability is desired, then that needs to be a feature request on all the relevant components (qemu-kvm, libvirt, rhev-m).

In the meantime, I'm moving this to the RHEV-M team so they can handle that option differently, either with a notification that the console isn't changed until the next reboot or make the option only configurable when the vm is down.

Yes, exactly. Thank you.

Comment 4 Itamar Heim 2013-04-14 05:49:57 UTC
it is not possible to change the display mid-run.
however, it should be possible today to simply launch the VM with both vnc and spice, then choosing either to connect with

Comment 5 Michal Skrivanek 2013-04-15 08:05:05 UTC
changing to RFE allowing to set both SPICE+VNC in VM properties. The upcoming new Display Options selection dialog (should be in 3.3) would allow you then to select one or the other.

Comment 6 Itamar Heim 2013-12-01 19:14:37 UTC
michal - isn't there another RFE tracking spice+vnc by default?

Comment 7 Michal Skrivanek 2013-12-02 15:42:42 UTC
