Jóhann, thank you for the patch. Could you however provide me an example how
this cronjob would look as systemd timer? I think it would make more sense to
use a systemd timer here on systems which provide it.

If your component does not already have dependency on systemd it arguably should not be migrated to systemd since it will cause unwanted disruption for administrators for little to no benefit et all.

But if you insist on adding it you can see variuos samples how to do so here.
