The vioscsi.sys file is now compatible with Microsoft Cluster Services, which enables the Windows virtio-scsi driver to support Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC) using shared storage. As a result, vioscsi.sys can pass all tests in the "Validate a Configuration" process.

Description Pablo Iranzo Gómez 2015-02-23 08:31:13 UTC
Description of problem:

Spin off from BZ https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1111784#c8

"That said, failover clustering on Windows requires the driver to show up as a SAS, iSCSI or FC driver. Currently, vioscsi.sys doesn't do that. So it's possible that Microsoft failover cluster will not work on virtio-scsi even if sg_persist working on Linux."

This is required for Microsoft Failover clusters to be able to use SCSI reservations.

Paolo,
As you were providing comments on this, can you check what else may I have missed on this bz?

Thanks!
Pablo

Moving to 3.6.0, 3.5.0 is already out.

Comment 5 Yaniv Lavi 2015-03-15 08:22:52 UTC
Can you please provide a update on this one?
It's blocking a customer escalated ticket.

Comment 7 Yaniv Lavi 2015-03-16 08:04:06 UTC
This is blocking us from allowing SCSI reservation for windows, can you give a update on driver development?

Comment 28 Sandro Bonazzola 2016-09-16 14:23:52 UTC
Dropping Lev from assignee. Please open a WGT build request once the RFE is done on Virt side.

Comment 29 Michal Skrivanek 2016-09-19 10:59:30 UTC
there is nothing else to do in oVirt other than ship newer virtio-scsi driver and documentation

Comment 64 Jiri Belka 2017-01-02 09:28:03 UTC
ok, 4.0-7 WGT

see #54 as this is just respin of the WGT. (MS clustering compatibility is handled in BZ1111784).

Comment 67 Jiri Belka 2017-01-02 14:23:08 UTC
putting back, this is for 4.1, I tried 4.0-7

Comment 71 Jiri Belka 2017-01-06 12:43:52 UTC
ok, wgt 4.1.3

although MCFC validation fails because of an issue how storage is handled on oVirt host, see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1111784#c32
