I had just inserted the CD-R into the drive when I tried opening with Brasero. The auto dialog of "you just inserted a blank CD, what do you want to do with it?" came up after the crash.

Package: brasero-2.32.0-1.fc14
Architecture: x86_64
OS Release: Fedora release 14 (Laughlin)

How to reproduce
-----
1. Remove disc that has been auto-mounted without unmounting on desktop
2. Insert blank disc to drive
3. Start Brasero and attempt to burn an iso to the blank disc

Comment
-----
Brasero failed to burn an iso - it was stuck trying to calculate a checksum. It appears a previous disc was removed from the machine without being unmounted from the desktop prior to the empty disc being inserted.

is my presumption correct, this bug only affects users of other desktops than gnome? (xfce in my case?)

I don't know about the ratio of gnome users to non-gnome users, but I'm using gnome with gnome-shell.

Comment 17 David Dreggors 2011-04-21 18:04:21 UTC
Matthias that is incorrect, I get that error in Gnome every other time I open Brasero. I am using the latest Gnome in Fedora 14 repos (not Gnome-Shell).

In my case it would seem that if I open brasero, burn a disk, and then close as usual then the very next open will crash. After the crash brasero opens as expected and I can burn again.

I am not sure if they are related but I also get the error on burn completion that the disk cannot be ejected and must be ejected manually.

For more info on that look at Bug #646377.
