Description Avital Pinnick 2018-02-25 13:36:55 UTC
A dedicated storage domain can be configured for backing up virtual machines and templates. In the backup storage domain, virtual machines cannot run and live storage migration is blocked.

Accepting into GA program, and assigning to Byron for review.

Byron, it looks like the upstream feature page was never merged, but I've added a link in the 'URL' field of this BZ to the merge request that contains feature information. It looks like the key change, GUI-wise, is being able to mark any data domain as 'Backup', provided the domain meets a set of strict criteria.

Comment 2 Lucy Bopf 2018-05-18 05:00:14 UTC
Missed ga milestone, moving to first z stream.

Untargeting and moving back to NEW until the usability bugs, BZ1595047 and BZ1595067, have been fixed.

Status:

QE reviewed most the document and said it looks good, but Detaching and attaching backup storage domain and importing a VM after attaching has not been tested by QE. The QA contact needs to sit with dev to understand the design in this flow.

Detaching and attaching backup storage domain and importing a VM after attaching has been tested.
When attaching backup storage domain, a tab named 'Import VM' appears > choose which VM to import > import the VM.
