Comment 1 williredhat 2019-09-07 17:50:25 UTC
Any update?

Comment 2 bugzilla 2019-09-27 12:35:10 UTC
certbot for EPEL 8 would be much appreciated!

Comment 3 Eli Young 2019-10-01 22:46:10 UTC
I'm going to be looking into this soonish, but there are likely a number of dependencies that will need to be added to EPEL8 first, so I can't provide much of an estimate as to how long this will take.

Comment 4 Eli Young 2019-10-08 01:45:06 UTC
I have started working on getting the dependencies that I control packaged for EPEL8. There are a number of other dependencies, however, that I don't control. The dependencies that I'm aware of that need to be packaged before I can have an initial release of certbot out for EPEL8 include, but are not necessarily limited to:

- python3-ndg_httpsclient
- python3-parsedatetime
- python3-pyrfc3339

Additional dependencies that I know about that are necessary before I can have a full release of certbot and all its plugins out for EPEL8 include, but again are not necessarily limited to:

- python3-beautifulsoup4
- python3-boto3
- python3-xmltodict

I'm working on reaching out to the maintainers of these packages and requesting their assistance.

Comment 5 Felix Schwarz 2019-11-20 16:40:00 UTC
Probably unnecessary but I started to create bugs for some missing packages so we can track the progress better.

Comment 6 Felix Schwarz 2019-11-30 21:56:49 UTC
I think it will take a few weeks at least until certbot is available in EPEL 8: So far maintainers for python-parseddate and python-rfc3339 have been silent despite my efforts of getting in touch with them. Still I hope that we can resolve this using Fedora's processes (non-responsive maintainer process) but that will take some time (due process).

I started building a minimal COPR repo so at least all of certbot's functionality should be working (no plugins though): https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/fschwarz/certbot-epel8/
(Please note that this is completely untested. This will happen once I deploy more servers with EPEL 8 in the next weeks.)

quick update: as you might have noticed things started moving last week. All dependencies are in EPEL testing now. python-acme+certbot are getting updated for version 1.0 and I hope we can add these to EPEL shortly after everything is in place in Fedora.

Comment 9 nucleo 2019-12-09 17:01:45 UTC
certbot still epel8-testing-candidate.
Something prevents submitting it to updates?

Comment 10 Fedora Update System 2019-12-09 19:08:31 UTC
FEDORA-EPEL-2019-ca589d6ec8 has been submitted as an update to Fedora EPEL 8. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-EPEL-2019-ca589d6ec8

Comment 11 Fedora Update System 2019-12-10 02:01:17 UTC
certbot-1.0.0-2.el8 has been pushed to the Fedora EPEL 8 stable repository. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report.
