Can you file an upstream issue at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/ ?

Hi, I have the exact same problem on my system which may or may not have the same cause. It affects all GNOME apps currently using the GNOME 47 runtime. The component causing the bug seems to be GTK rather than Mesa. The relevant bug report (to me) is https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/7022 and it seems to have been fixed upstream in GTK 4.16.2, released on 2024-09-25: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/merge_requests/7726 At the time of writing, the release has only been built for F42/Rawhide. Can this be closed as fixed upstream? Workarounds were shared on Fedora Discussion but these caused small scaling issues for me as I use fractional scaling on my display: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/gdk-message-error-71-protocol-error-dispatching-to-wayland-display/127927/4
(In reply to James Munyambu from comment #7) > The relevant bug report (to me) is https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/7022 [...] That's a separate issue from the one reported here, which is actually an nvidia driver issue (see the linked upstream issue for details).

I'm gonna close this as CANTFIX since it's a bug in the NVIDIA proprietary driver (see https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/wayland-protocols/-/issues/211#note_2576891 ) and has to be fixed there, but let's tag it as CommonBugs so we can document the workaround.

Per https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/3664#note_2261129 "this was resolved on the nVidia side with the 565.57.01 beta driver", so it doesn't need documenting any more.
