Description of problem: Although RH wants to move entirely to Wayland,it is lacking this popular window manager, an almost dropin replacement for openbox Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: dnf search labwc finds nothing. Steps to Reproduce: 1.dnf search labwc 2. 3. Actual results: nothing found Expected results: Finding such a package Additional info: I tried to rebuild from an F39 srpm but was missing too many dependencies. The package has been available since, F39, I believe. (I may have chosen the wrong component, but there is no "wayland" or wlroots component.
For this to build in epel10, it is missing libsfdo wlroots libsfdo build fine in epel10, and I own it, so I can work on that. wlroots is missing some dependencies libdrm xcb-util-errors Both of those build on epel10, but I am not a maintainer for either of them, or wlroots, so requests will need to be created for them all.
I submitted a request for the two packages, libdrm and xcb-util-errors at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2332393
In addition, I submitted a request for wlroots at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2332405
For what it's worth I managed to build it on RHEL10 Beta, using a bunch of FC40 srpms from RPM find. The srpms I used (with package A saying it was missing package B and eventually getting them all) were grim-1.4.1-3.el10 (and I see I have one for fc40, not sure why) labwc-0.7.1-3, libliftoff-0.4.1-4,wlroots-0.17.2.1, xcb-util-errors-1.0.1-3, and xdg-desktop-portal-wlr. I've not yet started looking at terminals and other enhancements such as waybar. I just wanted to see if I could get a wayland WM working in a VM of RHEL10, as I won't, unlike RHEL9, have the luxury of using xorg window managers.
Hi Scott, I just noticed one very critical problem with all of your package requests. You keep making these requests by filing against xorg-x11-server-Xwayland-epel This means that nobody who is maintaining the packages you are requesting has seen anything that you requested. I am the only person getting these emails and bugs. I don't own, or have any rights to labwc, wlroots, libdrm or xcb-util-errors. It was just a lucky co-incidence that I am a maintainer of libsfdo. When you create the bugs requesting the packages, you need to fill out the "Component" section with whatever package you are requesting. That get's it assigned to the correct person, and adds all the correct people the the email list. I'll go ahead and change the bugs you've already opened. But for other bugs, be sure to fill out the Component section, so the right people are seeing the bug.
For labwc, let me know when the prereqs are ready in epel10 and I can build it in epel10.
Hi Steve For epel10 it requires wlroot which require libdrm xcb-util-errors
Hi Troy, and thanks so much for your help. I was finding, when looking for components for new packages, that there wasn't an available component for say, labwc. I'll do it correctly in the future, and apologies for the inconvenience.
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora Linux 42 development cycle. Changing version to 42.
This message is a reminder that Fedora Linux 42 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora Linux 42 on 2026-05-13. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a 'version' of '42'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, change the 'version' to a later Fedora Linux version. Note that the version field may be hidden. Click the "Show advanced fields" button if you do not see it. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora Linux 42 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora Linux, you are encouraged to change the 'version' to a later version prior to this bug being closed.
This bug can be closed, right? We now have a labwc package in fedora: https://packages.fedoraproject.org/pkgs/labwc/labwc/
