Actual results: screen stays black after switching to X Expected results: screen show installer Additional info: Will provide what else is necessary, if you've got an idea how I can at least come to a console without starting X let me know and I'll see what other information I can dig up.
Created attachment 359400 [details] Output from lspci I have the same problem. The install fails when I use the graphical interface. I was able to install using vnc (http://docs.fedoraproject.org/install-guide/f11/en-US/html/vncwhitepaperadded.html), but X is still not coming up so it is at runlevel 3. If don't have a second system running a VNC client and want to get to that point with F12, you should be able to use the text-based installer, type linux text at the boot: prompt. I'll be finding or filing another bug report to work through getting X up and running.
Since this bugzilla report was filed, there have been several major updates in various components of the Xorg system, which may have resolved this issue. Users who have experienced this problem are encouraged to upgrade their system to the latest version of their packages (at least F12Beta, but even better if the very latest versions). Please, if you experience this problem on the up-to-date system, let us now in the comment for this bug, or whether the upgraded system works for you. If you won't be able to reply in one month, I will have to close this bug as INSUFFICIENT_DATA. Thank you. [This is a bulk message for all open Fedora Rawhide Xorg-related bugs. I'm adding myself to the CC list for each bug, so I'll see any comments you make after this and do my best to make sure every issue gets proper attention.]
From my perspective this bug is no longer an issue. I downloaded Fedora-12-Beta-i386-DVD and the problem with installing using the graphical interface appears to be resolved. There is a new bug with installing via nfs, but that has been reported and is being worked (see Bug 528537 or Bug 529462). The other bug I reported with getting X up and running was resolved through updates, see Bug 520642.
Since the second reporter states that this bug is no longer an issue using the Fedora 12 beta, could we please have the original reporter test it with the latest available LiveCD? -- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 12 development cycle. Changing version to '12'. More information and reason for this action is here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
works for me now. Thanks all!
Thank you for letting us know.
