Thanks for the bug report. We have reviewed the information you have provided above, and there is some additional information we require that will be helpful in our diagnosis of this issue.

Please attach your X server config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf, if available), /var/log/dmesg, and X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.*.log) to the bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the bugzilla file attachment link below.

We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach this information.

Same bug appears with ATI Technologies Inc RV380 [Radeon X600 (PCIE)], attached dmesg, and Xorg.log files.

Xorg.0.log already attached
No xorg.conf (LiveCD)
dmesg after crash not available due to LiveCD, sorry.

Maybe the dmesg from the multihead test case is usable:

Comment 9 Peter F. Patel-Schneider 2009-09-09 17:34:23 UTC
Also occurs on a ThinkPad T60p (running from a live CD).

Comment 10 Mike C 2009-09-09 19:33:18 UTC
Same on Dell D610 with ATI Technologies Inc M22 [Radeon Mobility M300]

Comment 11 Peter Bloomfield 2009-09-10 11:51:37 UTC
Also on a ThinkPad T43

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M22 [Mobility Radeon
X300]

Comment 12 Michael Ploujnikov 2009-09-11 02:27:11 UTC
I can reproduce this on ThinkPad T500 with ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3650 [1002:9591].

Comment 13 Michael Ploujnikov 2009-09-11 02:30:15 UTC
I'd like to add that the laptop's ethernet port lights are blinking but I can't ping the machine. Also, I can hear the system fan spinning and the backlight seems to be on.

Comment 14 Michael Ploujnikov 2009-09-11 03:44:36 UTC
I would like to also mention that booting with radeon.modeset=0 lets me suspend without noticeable problems.

Comment 15 Dariusz Garbowski 2009-09-11 04:38:28 UTC
I see the same using Fedora Test Day 09/09/2009 Radeon ISO.

HIS Radeon HD 4670 1GB (RV730XT)

# lspci -nn
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc RV730XT [Radeon
HD 4670] [1002:9490]

Xorg.0.log from thuforuk

Comment 17 Stefan Becker 2009-09-11 06:12:57 UTC
More tests:

1) boot with "nomodeset 3", login as root, modprobe -r radeon, echo mem >/sys/power/state: suspend & resume OK
2) boot with "nomodeset", suspend from X session: suspend & resume OK
3) boot with "3", login as root, echo mem >/sys/power/state: suspend freezes machine

So the problem only happens when KMS is active.

Comment 18 b. nutzer 2009-09-11 18:36:34 UTC
I can confirm this, it works for me if modeset is disabled!
(Thinkpad R60, mobility radeon x1400)

Comment 20 Michal Schmidt 2009-09-23 13:24:28 UTC
I have an RS690M [Radeon X1200 Series].

kernel-2.6.31-33.fc12.x86_64 hangs on suspend.
Vanilla 2.6.31 suspends and resumes fine.
Vanilla git HEAD (currently 7fa07729e439a6184bd824746d06a49cca553f15) suspends and resumes fine.
Vanilla 2.6.31 + drm-next.patch from F-12 hangs on suspend.
Vanilla 2.6.31 + drm-next.patch from F-12 + cherry-picked commit 2f9a60d76692ffbc749d97ac55717f70eb1f9432 from vanilla git tree suspends and resumes fine.

This is it:

commit 2f9a60d76692ffbc749d97ac55717f70eb1f9432
Author: Dave Airlie <airlied>
Date: Fri Sep 11 18:35:38 2009 +1000

    drm/radeon/kms: set fbdev_info for suspend/resume

this hopefully will bring back suspend/resume under kms.

    Signed-off-by: Dave Airlie <airlied>

So I believe this bug will be fixed in F-12 as soon as someone updates drm-next.patch to get current fixes from upstream (including this commit).

Comment 21 Michal Schmidt 2009-09-23 13:35:15 UTC
Dave, would you update drm-next.patch in F-12?

kernel 2.6.31.1-44.fc12 is building in koji now , will hit rawhide a in a day or two.
please report back on what it does.

Comment 24 Stefan Becker 2009-09-27 07:38:49 UTC
Retested with

kernel-2.6.31.1-48.fc12.i686
xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.13.0-0.4.20090908git651fe5a47.fc12.i686
libdrm-2.4.14-1.fc12.i686
mesa-libGL-7.6-0.13.fc12.i686

on

Mobility Radeon X1300 [1002:7149]
Radeon HD 3200 Graphics [1002:9610]

suspend-to-ram & resume works fine on both systems.
suspend-to-disk & resume tested on X1300: works too (has been broken with KMS at least for F11)

Comment 25 Michal Schmidt 2009-09-27 14:51:53 UTC
Kernel kernel-2.6.31.1-48.fc12.x86_64 works for me too. Suspends and resumes fine. Closing the bug.
